As you can imagine, it is difficult to estimate the exact cost of recovering data from a data  before an actual diagnosis is performed.  Prices, as indicated below, can be used for an approximation for data recovery service fees that would be charged: 

• Typically, if a hard disk drive needing data recovery services does not have to go into the laboratory Class 100 Clean Room, the fee charged for data recovery (if data recovery is possible) is between $400 to $900 depending on the complexity involved with the data recovery process.
• For a hard disk drive that must go into the Class 100 Clean Room, in order to swap out discs into a known good hard drive shell that has working electronics, and for the subsequent purpose of recovering the data, the typical charge is approximately $1500 to $1800.

• The prices above are based on a 20 Gigabyte hard drive and include putting the recovered data onto data DVD’s. Prices are higher for the bigger data capacity drives.
• For rush service (24 hour service) figure an additional 40% of the prices quoted, above.  Non-rush service turn-a-round time is usually 3 to 4 business working days.  All shipments are sent on an “over-night” basis.
• For those hard drives that have functioning motors:  There is a 90% chance that we can recover the data here at our facility in Chicago, in order to circumvent a data peripheral from having to go to the lab in New York— i.e., those drives with boot sector and other non-mechanical/electronic problems, etc.  All hard drives with non-functioning motors would automatically be shipped to the New York data recovery lab.
